Bona Montagu is a collections curator with over thirty years’ experience as a gallerist, dealer and collections advisor. Known for her expertise in modern and contemporary art, Bona has assembled and worked with some of the leading private, corporate and institutional collections internationally. Her comments on the art market have been featured in international publications, such as The Financial Times, The New York Times, The Art Newspaper, and Apollo Magazine.

Bona joined Christie’s Contemporary Art Department in London in 1993 having studied Art History at the Courtauld Institute of Art. During this time, she also collaborated in the foundation of Factual Nonsense, a gallery and cultural think tank which was closely associated with the emergence of the Young British Artists. In 1996, she left Christie’s with James Roundell, the then head of impressionist and modern art,
to form the post-war and contemporary department at the leading private dealership Dickinson, where she also advised families and artist estates until 2012.

In 2012, Bona opened Skarstedt Gallery London whilst continuing to advise under Montagu Arts. The gallery staged a number of acclaimed historical exhibitions, as well as presentations of new work by celebrated contemporary artists, such as Eric Fischl, David Salle and George Condo. After nine years at Skarstedt, Bona left to concentrate on Montagu Arts.

Montagu Arts is a member of the Society of London Art Dealers, where Bona was elected Vice Chair in 2020. She is a Patron of the Whitechapel Gallery, Tate, and Serpentine.
